PM Modi Launches New Digital Payment Voucher e-RUPI

e-RUPI digital Voucher: On Monday 2nd August 2021 PM Modi launched a digital payment solution voucher 'e-RUPI'. This is India's first step as the country's own digital currency. e-RUPI is a cashless and contact-less instrument which acts as an e-voucher based on a QR code or SMS string

what is the use of e-RUPI E Voucher ?

In addition to the government, PM Modi stated, in the beginning, it will be applicable on health beneficiaries. Or if any organization wanted to help someone in their treatment, education or for any other work, then they would be able to give an e-RUPI voucher instead of cash. The Prime Minister said e-Rupi will give "a new face to digital governance in India".

The Government also said that e-Rupi can be used for delivering services under many schemes meant for providing "drugs and nutritional support under the mother and child welfare schemes, TB eradication programmes, drugs and diagnostics under schemes like Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, fertilizer subsidies etc"

The prime minister Modi also said that the e-RUPI is an example of how India is moving forward and connecting people in the 21st Century with the help of advanced technology.

Who developed e-RUPI ?

It has been developed by National Payments Corporation of India(NPCI) on its UPI platform, in collaboration with the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and National Health Authority

How e-RUPI works ?

It will be in a way similar to a gift voucher which can be redeemed at specific accepting centers without any credit or debit card or mobile app or internet banking.it is a QR code or SMS string-based e-voucher, which is delivered to the mobile phones of beneficiaries.e-RUPI connects the sponsors of the services with the beneficiaries and service providers in a digital manner without any physical interface
